(Toronto, ON) – A new Liaison Strategies poll for the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada (NEPMCC) finds Vaughan mayor Steven Del Duca notching a 63% approval rating with crime the top issue of Vaughan voters.

Conducted from October 22-23, 2025, using interactive voice response technology, the poll surveyed 800 Vaughan voters. The margin of error for the poll is +/- 3.46%, 19 times out of 20.

Liaison Strategies is one of the most accurate polling firms in Canada. It ranked #1 in accuracy in the 2025 Ontario election and #2 nationally in the 2025 federal election. Liaison is a member of the Canadian Research Insights Council (CRIC).

David Valentin, Principal at Liaison Strategies, said the following:

If an election were held today Vaughan Mayor Steven Del Duca would win re-election with 46% if he faced his opponents from 2022, Sandra Yeung Racco (34%) and Danny DeSantis (14%). These results are an improvement on the 2022 election where he took 38% of the vote and narrowly won against Racco who had 36.5% of the vote. While Racco and DeSantis have more or less maintained their level of support, Del Duca has grown his while support for smaller candidates (someone else) has been cut in half.

Del Duca has a 63% approval rating - which is good enough for 4th place compared to his colleagues leading large Ontario cities. His 63% approval rating, and 32% disapproval works out to a net approval of +31.

Vaughan voters say crime is their top issue (26%) followed by traffic (20%) and affordable housing (17%).

Meanwhile, the federal Conservatives are leading in Vaughan by 6 points over the Liberals, 47 to 41 among decided and leaning voters. The undecided rate in Vaughan is 16% - the highest among the ten cities that we tested, which creates an opportunity for either party to consolidate support.

It's important to note this survey tested generic party support and not local candidates names, but either way these numbers point to narrow Conservative advantage.
