Chow Leads, Saunders Second, Hunter Third

(Toronto, ON) – A new Liaison Strategies poll for the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada (NEPMCC) finds Olivia Chow solidly in first place with Mark Saunders in second and Mitzie Hunter ascending to third place.

Conducted from May 17-18, 2023, with interactive voice response, the poll of 1,311 Toronto voters has a margin of error of +/- 2.7%, 19 times out of 20.

"This week Olivia Chow is up one point among all voters, but down one point among decided voters," said David Valentin, Principal of Liaison Strategies. "The number of undecided Toronto voters has dropped now to 28%. So even though Chow has gained support over all, because the pool of decided voters has expanded, she is down one point in the decided category, within the poll's margin of error."

"The long term trend continues to be positive for Mitzie Hunter and negative for Josh Matlow. Hunter is now in third while Matlow is now in fourth place despite previously being in first in weekly tracking."

"Brad Bradford and Ana Bailao round out the field, both had previously been polling at 6% but are now polling at 10% and 8% among decided voters respectively."

"Trend lines are always more important than any individual snapshot. The story of the election continues to be the steady gains by Olivia Chow week after week. Among all voters some candidates have shown relatively little movement, while the undecided has steadily declined," concluded Valentin.

4% Someone Else (no change)
