LIAISON TEACHING STAFF
At the beginner levels students begin to acquire a basic knowledge in the English language to be functional in every day situations. At this level they will soon be able to express themselves on subjects of general or every day interest. Students at this level are able to comprehend and speak within simple language constructions.
At the Intermediate levels students continue to improve their knowledge and strengthen their confidence. Common idiomatic expressions, grammar in context and scenario-based speaking are integral to these levels. Students will soon be able to speak effectively, with little hesitation, using more complex language structures.
At the Advanced levels students are able to speak with confidence. These levels focus on more complex reading and comprehension as well as vocabulary extension and spontaneous communications. Briefing skills and advanced level writing are included.
All language courses are offered at eight levels, from beginner to advanced. The emphasis throughout is on conversation. These courses can be taken within the following learning intensity levels:

this course focuses on the language skills requires for university-level study with an emphasis on effective reading, comprehension and vocabulary extension. |
| Advanced Written & Oral |
this course is for Advanced level students who want to continue to improve both their written work, comprehension and conversation. Students will work on briefing skills, negotiating, problem solving, all aspects of business communications, summaries and report writing. |
| Advanced Written |
this course is for Advanced level students who want to take their written work to a higher level. Students will be working on producing reports, business communications, summaries and briefings. |
| Advanced Oral and Comprehension |
this course is for Advanced level students who want to speak and understand to a higher level. Students will practice briefings, negotiations, problem solving and discussing. |
| Grammar & Oral |
this course is designed for mid to upper intermediate level students who want to improve their oral language skills with an emphasis on conversational grammar, idiomatic expressions and vocabulary. Oral language skills are strengthened through a series of structured exercises, scenarios and projects. |
| Grammar & Written |
this course is designed for mid to upper intermediate level students who want to improve their grasp of grammar, complex constructions and vocabulary. Written skills are advanced through a series of structured exercises and projects. |
| Oral Communications Skills |
this course is for students who are at the upper intermediate or lower advanced levels and who want to improve their oral communications skills. Emphasis is given to styles and structure of briefing, clarity of speech, appropriateness of both grammar and vocabulary and oral comprehension. |
| Conversation and Pronunciation |
this course is for students who are at the upper intermediate levels for both vocabulary and grammar but who wish to improve their pronunciation. The course emphasizes stress and intonation for North American spoken English. |
| Reading and Vocabulary Extension |
this course enhances both reading and comprehension skills and expands vocabulary |
