Liaison Training Centre offers five levels of courses within the French language program. People who wish to improve their general level and knowledge of French in order to better communicate at work can benefit from the courses offered for their level. Through this program, students can develop and improve their conversational skills and learn about different aspects of French culture so that they can apply this knowledge later to their areas of interest.

The courses described below provide basic training in business French. Each level usually involves a 40 hours course over ten weeks at a rate of two two-hour courses a week.

Elementary I

This course is designed for people looking for an introduction to French conversation.

The main objective of this course is to develop oral expression and skills in order to understand the basics of written and spoken French. Through this introduction to pronunciation, vocabulary, idioms and simple French structures, students can learn to understand and express themselves in everyday situations. At the end of the course, they will be able to introduce themselves, locate objects and ask for information.

Elementary II

This course is designed for people wanting to expand their knowledge of spoken French. Using the appropriate educational material, students will develop a basic knowledge in the language in order to feel more comfortable with using French in a greater number of everyday situations. They will learn how to express past and future actions. Students will increase their vocabulary and learn to use different sentence structures. They will be able to more quickly understand a message and will learn idiomatic expressions that will allow them to take part in conversations and express needs.

Intermediate I

This course is designed for people who are able to express themselves in spoken French to a limited extent in a certain number of everyday situations, but who want to improve their general skills to be able to communicate more effectively in a professional context. By learning basic grammar related to the subject discussed in the class, students will develop skills for understanding complex sentences. They will be able to express their desires, feelings and opinions, allowing them to participate in discussions in the workplace.

Intermediate II

This course is designed for people who want to continue, within a structured context, to apply the knowledge gained in the previous course and to add certain nuances necessary for business communication. Using situational scenarios and conversations, students will acquire the tools needed to synthesize information. They will be able to express opinions or ideas in a accurate manner and feel comfortable in a variety of situations. Students will, at this point, be able to express themselves using complex phrases, which will, in turn, allow them to actively participate in and contribute to discussions in French their companies.

This course is designed for people who want to feel completely at ease in a Francophone environment where they must quickly understand one or more speakers and be able to respond appropriately and effectively. Learning activities are varied and can include situational scenarios, discussions, communication exercises and presentations adapted to the learner's environment. Students will now know how to react effectively and spontaneously in a large number of common situations in the business world.
