What can I do if I'm not certain what my language level is?

Don't worry. When you arrive in Montreal, one of Liaison's teacher will give you an oral and written test that will give us a clear idea of what your proficiency level you have achieved to date. This exam usually takes from forty to sixty minutes and you may do it whenever it is convenient to you. Besides, based on the period you have available to attend one of Liaison's language courses, Liaison's staff will provide you with the following:

  • a course outline;
  • a course timetable;
  • an outline of the activities available in Montreal for the period of your stay;
  • the training standard you will achieve at the end of the recommended course.

What can I do if I don't know which course I should take?

At the moment you decide to travel to Montreal and attend one of Liaison's language courses, we will send you a questionnaire for you to complete that will help us define your profile, your professional needs, your likes and preferences as well as your time availability for the course in Montreal. Based on this information, we will suggest you about the course you should take.

When do classes usually start?

After you arrive in Montreal and are well settled in you home stay accommodation, your first class will usually start on a Monday morning. All the details you require, including timetables, activity programs, forthcoming social events, maps and much more will included in your Liaison Welcome pack which will be presented to you by your Liaison escort when you arrive at Montreal's Dorval International Airport.

Will you be able to arrange accommodation for me?

Yes, if you choose to stay in one of Montreal's world-class hotels very close to the School we will arrange everything for you. Let us know what your specific requirements are and our staff will book your hotel for you. Without delay we will provide you with the booking details, school location and associated maps by e-mail.

Can I share accommodation in Montreal with someone else?

Yes, definitely. If you want to share accommodation with someone else, either a friend who is attending the course with you, or to help defray costs, let us know and we will arrange accordingly.

Can I find the Liaison Training Centre Language School? Will it be close to my accommodation?

Liaison's Language Schools are located in the Montreal downtown core. Your accommodation will be in close travelling proximity to your School. In your Liaison Welcome pack we will provide you with maps, travel details including bus and metro schedules and much more to make your first few days in Montreal a pleasant experience

I would like transport from the Airport to my place of accommodation - How can I book this?

We know that arriving at an airport in a foreign city can be a daunting experience. We can therefore arrange for you to be met and taken to your home stay family, hotel or apartment. If you would like this service, let us know by e-mail info@liaison.ca beforehand and when you register indicate this requirement on your registration form. The charge for this is in the Fee Structure list.

How much is the Registration Fee?

The Registration Fee is Canadian $110. You can use Mastercard or Visa to pay your Registration Fee.

How can I pay my Course tuition fees?

Normally tuition fees should be paid in full at least one calendar month before the start of your course. Should you wish to pay your tuition fees over a period of time, please get in touch with us. We will be pleased to discuss alternative payment means with you.

What are the main activities in Montreal during the winter/spring season and the summer/autumn season?

In North America, cities do not come any better than Montreal. Montreal is generally accepted throughout the world as being a great and unique city. The feel of Montreal is truly global, where every culture and creed thrives within a thoroughly modern environment, where the quality of life is unsurpassed.

Montreal bustles with activity all year round and there are many places to see. Old Montreal and the old Port are excellent places to start with. You can see many historical sights on foot with a multitude of restaurants and shops within striking distance. Ste. Catherine between Victoria Square and Guy Street is the main commercial centre of Montreal. Shopping here is world-class especially in the underground city which seems endless. Mount Royal Park is unique and affords a fantastic view of the City from the famous lookout. The Plateau Mont Royal is also worth a visit on foot especially a stop at one of the many neighbourhood restaurants. To the east of downtown, you will find the major tourist attractions: the Olympic Stadium, the Biodome and Insectarium and the world-famous Botanical gardens. If you are in the mood for relaxation, you can head straight for St Denis Street, north of Ste.Catherine where you will find an abundance of restaurants, coffee shops, bookstores and bistros. If it's a walk or a bicycle ride you are looking for, you will find a wide variety of activities on Ile Ste.Helene and Ile Notre Dame, ranging from the Old Fort and the Floralies site to the La Ronde amusement park and the Casino.

There are many world-class museums in Montreal. For fine arts you have the Musee des Beaux Arts, for history there is the Musee d'archeologie et d'histoire de Montreal and the Centre d'histoire de Montreal, and for science there is the Biodome and the insectarium.

The most popular churches include the Oratoire St.Joseph, Notre Dame basilica and St. Patrick Basilica. The public markets at Jean-Talon and Atwater are definitely worth a visit. For restaurants the visitor to Montreal is spoiled for choice. One is able to find excellent food and value for money almost everywhere in Montreal. Finally Montreal is known for its festivals such as the famous Montreal International Jazz Festival, the Just for Laughs Festival, the Francofolies and the International Film festival.

How will I get from my accommodation in Montreal to the Language School?

Normally your accommodation will be located close to the Language School. Depending on where you are accommodated, you can either walk to the School or use Montreal's excellent public transport such as the Metro or the bus.
